Acupressure is ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is still used in many Chinese hospitals today.  This is how practitioners found the places where needles are placed in acupuncture.  The points & meridians are touched and held using hands/fingers instead of inserting needles. Acupressure is an excellent choice for people challenged with stress or pain, those who want more balance in their lives, athletes who wish to enhance performance and anyone who enjoys a great massage. It is safe for all ages from infant to elder, in almost any health condition.

My primary acupressure techniques include Ren Shen, Tui Na (meridian massage similar to Shiatsu in Japanese), Reflexology and Reiki.

* Ren Shen means "compassionate spirit" and is a very gentle, subtle form of holding points along the meridians and extraordinary vessels.  It gets the qi and blood moving while still being very safe for almost any health condition.  In Japanese, this kind of work is called Jin Shin.

* Tui Na is Chinese meridian massage and is usually a more active form of acupressure.  The body is massaged, rocked and stretched using a variety of techniques  called Tui (brush), Na (grasp) and many others.   It is similar in some ways to Shiatsu - Japanese Meridian Massage.  People who like Swedish massage love my Tui Na.

* Reflexology - Every organ, system and part of the body is represented in the feet and the hands and the ears.  Thus, we can "touch" the whole body just by massaging and holding any, or all, of these three areas.

* Reiki is a form of healing developed in Japan.  Various parts of the body are gently held and encouraged to come into balance.  The touch is light but the effect is very deep.

Ask me about my additional advanced training in trauma care, pre-natal and post-natal and baby massage, medical qi gung, cranio-sacral therapy, neuromuscular techniques and more.
